The Iwata Faculty Development Fund and Jewish Studies Club are proud to present a screening of Weapons of the Spirit (1997). Documentary film-maker Pierre Sauvage tells the story of the French village of Le Chambon-sur-Lignon, which sheltered thousands of Jews from Nazi arrest during WWII. Sauvage himself is one of the many lives that was saved through the work of the village, and he now serves as the President of The Chambon Foundation, working to promote reflection on the lessons of the Holocaust and desiring that hope should come from tragedy. An informal lecture and Q&A session with Sauvage will follow the screening.
