CASE-BOUND BOOKMAKING WORKSHOP

Learn how to make the traditional codex book that has endured for hundreds of years. You will create one hard-cover formal blank book. This truly is the most classic and satisfying aspect of bookmaking. You will sew the textblock together first, add end sheets, reinforce the spine, add headbands and a ribbon, construct a 3-board case and then attach together. The goal is to have you walk out with a formal book and be able to recreate it in the future.  These workshops emphasize physical craftsmanship. Though no prior skills are needed, the workshop is demanding and involves measuring, folding, cutting, piercing, sewing and gluing.
