room with gilded wall relief

On September 7, 2018 the renovated Calvary Chapel was officially dedicated with a service of worship and celebration.

Biola University’s Calvary Chapel underwent a major artistic renovation during the summer of 2018, adding a new dimension of sacred space, reverence, and beauty. World-renowned Danish liturgical artists Peters Brandes and Maja Lisa Engelhardt transformed the chapel with contemporary art in the form of exquisite stained-glass windows, a stunning gilded wall relief, innovative lighting, and other re-designed architectural elements.  These changes to Calvary Chapel have not only enriched the experience of worship and but boldly stand as a visual testimony to Biola’s continued commitment as an institution of Christian faith and its core values of truth, transformation, and testimony.

We invite you to explore the renovations with a guided video tour of Calvary Chapel, a cross-shaped worship space that has been beautifully re-created around a central theme — the Resurrection of Christ.
