Candace Leigh Anya Bogan is an elegant lyric-soprano of uncommon sensitivity and artistry.  She is a wonderful, thoughtful interpreter and uses her instrument completely in the service of the music and its listeners.  Ms. Bogan has performed the role of Nedda with the Central Florida Lyric Opera from Leoncavallo’s I Pagliacci, Zerlina in Mozart’s Don Giovanni, and Anna Maurrant in Kurt Weil’s Street Scene.

As a soprano soloist, she also maintains an extensive list of oratorios including: Handel’s Messiah, Du Bois’ Seven Last Words of Christ, Saint-Saens’ Christmas Oratorio, and Mendelssohn’s Elijah.  Ms. Bogan frequently performs Negro Spirituals; having a dramatic, musical sense in her stage performance while communicating distinctive emotion through song.  She has obtained various accolades applauding her “beautiful voice and fine interpretation” working with the San Diego State University Opera Theatre in addition to her study at the Lyric Opera Studio Weimar in Germany; enhancing her performance of German opera and Lieder.

Ms. Bogan holds a Bachelor's of Arts degree from San Diego Christian College and a Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance from San Diego State University.   Upon recently obtaining a Doctorate of Musical Arts degree in Vocal Arts at Claremont Graduate University; this artist will continue teaching on the benefits of singing within academia and the community at large.
