In his new book, The Artisan Soul, Erwin Raphael McManus, pastor of the Mosaic Church in Los Angeles, pens a provocative manifesto for human creativity and the call for a new artistic renaissance in the church. McManus believes that within each of us, we carry the essence of an artist. His book not only calls us to reclaim this creative essence, but also reveals how we can craft our lives into ones of beauty and wonder. He states, “We all need to create, to be a part of a process that brings to the world something beautiful, good, and true, in order to allow our souls to come to life.” This semester we encourage you to read McManus’ powerful book and embrace his call to live passionately and imaginatively in the freedom of Christ’s gospel as an artist, and to join us as together we explore rich ways to think about our lives as Christian artisans.
